Protests at the Lebanon PAN Meeting

A husband and wife team, the Jarboes, protested outside of our January 21st opening meeting in Lebanon, PA. Other than the novelty of being protested, our Lebanon meeting went off without a hitch. We spent a great deal of time chatting with the owner of the establishment, a born-again Christian who welcomed us in quite graciously.

Apparently this is a well-known area team who protest anything they find to be anti-Christian, and the community is well aware of these people. In the midst of this meeting, we noticed a gentleman outside arguing with the Jarboes, and when he came into the restaurant, he started to vent a bit inside about the inanity of the protesters. He assumed that there was some kind of Christian meeting going on inside, he didn’t realize they were protesting US. When we explained who we were, he calmed down tremendously, and chatted with us a bit while waiting for his food – Turns out he was just a random non-believer just like the rest of us, and stumbled onto our meeting! The look on his face was great, it was almost out of a situational comedy script!

It appears that Trijicon is no longer going to be manufacturing sight scopes with bible codes.

Our Carl Silverman was talking about this yesterday with Bob Durgin. It appears that the people at the manufacturer have decided that it’s more important to keep their contract than possibly lose it over this controversy.

PA Nonbelievers Expands Across Southern Pennsylvania

We now have 5 different locations for like-minded atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers to join up and meet. All like-minded people are invited to join us in our York, Harrisburg (Lemoyne), Chambersburg, Reading (Wyomissing) and Lebanon meetings.

Our York meetings, as always are the first Saturday of the month at the UUCY Carriage House at 925 S. George St. (map) in York, 10:00AM to Noon with an informal luncheon to follow.

Our Harrisburg meetings are located in Lemoyne, PA on the second Thursday of the month at a local restaurant, from 7pm to 9pm. For specific location, please contact us here.

Our Chambersburg meetings are located in Chambersburg, PA on the third Monday of the month at a local restaurant, from 7pm to 9:30pm. For specific location, please contact us here.

Our Reading meetings are located in Wyomissing, PA at a local coffee shop, from 1pm to 3pm. We are still nailing down the specifics as to when they will be normally happening. Our next meeting is on February 21st. For specific location, please contact us here.

Atheists Plan Lebanon Meeting

YORK, PA– PA Nonbelievers, Inc. will hold its first Lebanon-area meeting for atheists, agnostics, and secular humanists on Thursday, January 21.

“We have several members in Lebanon County who have traveled to our monthly meetings in York and Harrisburg,” said Steve Neubauer, president of the all-volunteer organization. “It’s time to offer a more convenient venue for them and for other like-minded people. So we decided to get the ball rolling by trying an informal get-together in January.”

“If the first event is successful and local members want to continue meeting on a regular basis, we’ll do whatever we can to support them,” Neubauer said. Membership in the organization is free.
